Apple iPhone users get WhatsApp’s new ‘view once’ feature

WhatsApp has rolled out its ‘view once’ feature for photos and videos for iPhone users. The feature was earlier available for WhatsApp beta testers and only Android devices had access to it. With the ‘view once’ feature, photos and videos sent in this mode can be viewed only once. The sent media will disappear from the chat once a user opens the photo or video.
Whats App has been testing the ‘view once’ feature for quite some time and now it is finally available. The feature, inspired by Snapchat, lets users see photos and videos only once and then it gets ‘deleted’ on its own.
While this feature may sound interesting, note that the person to whom you are sending the photos or videos can always save them by taking a screenshot. WhatsApp doesn’t prevent users from taking screenshots nor does it notify users when the receiver of the message has taken a screenshot.
After you send a photo or video to someone, it will automatically disappear from your phone and the receiver’s phone the moment it is opened once. You will get a notification the moment the person has seen the content and will get a message “Opened”.
Meanwhile, Android phones will soon have the capability to easily transfer WhatsApp chats from iOS to Android instantly through Google’s Data Restore Tool. While Android phones will start supporting this feature soon, you may have to wait for WhatsApp to introduce specific chat migration settings. A report by WABetaInfo claims that WhatsApp is already working on this feature and it may be just about time that it is officially rolled out.
When the chat migration feature from iOS to Android phone is introduced in WhatsApp, users will have to access the feature from the app itself by scanning QR code from inside the Transfer WhatsApp Chats.
